IdeaEncre Network for Nonprofits!

YNPN San Diego is pleased to announce a new partnership with THE knowledge-sharing organization, IdeaEncore Network.

Looking to find and share resources with colleagues?

IdeaEncore Network is an on-line peer-to-peer learning marketplace (like Amazon or eBay) for nonprofits and those who support them to share, sell, and buy all types and forms of practical knowledge, innovative ideas and information assets - - including ready-to-use tools, templates, training content, policies, procedures and plans.

“Working with YNPN San Diego is exciting because we believe knowledge sharing is an opportunity for members to use their technology savvy to make a huge difference to their cause, their organization and their own career,” said Scott Bechtler-Levin, Co-Founder and President of IdeaEncore Network. The company was started here in San Diego and has quickly spread throughout the US and has visitors from over 80 countries.

A few examples of ready to use resources:
Make more impact. Earn more money

IdeaEncore provides an easy way for your organization to share what it knows, learn from others, and earn unrestricted income.

Harnessing the power of Web 2.0 to free knowledge from the hard drives within nonprofits is a quick and easy way to magnify your impact. We encourage you to share knowledge and information as a way to greatly multiply donors’ and funders’ return on investments in the sector. It also is an easy entry point to encourage your board to embrace earned income strategies.

This is an online document sharing community where you and your organization are rewarded for sharing:
  • “Content Providers” (sellers) gain peer feedback / recognition, elevate nonprofit practice, spread their mission, and create earned-income.
  • “Content Consumers” (buyers) save time and money while reducing risk of new initiatives.
The YNPN San Diego Advantage

Share. Learn. Earn. As a part of a countywide knowledge sharing initiative in cooperation with Nonprofit Management Solutions, sharing has never been so rewarding. And IdeaEncore makes it easy to choose licensing from a drop-down list, so your organization’s intellectual property is protected. Share or sell your ready-to-use business planning tools, program policies, fundraising templates, program plans, logic models or other information.
  • No risk: There is no charge to upload and download free materials open to the public. You only pay a percentage of what is actually purchased. Create a free account now.
  • 25% off fees to sell: YNPN San Diego members who upload their first item by 12/31/09 will receive a discount of 25% off IdeaEncore’s Paid Content fees (except minimums) on all of their shared items that are purchased by others through 6/30/10.
  • 10% off fees to sell: All other YNPN San Diego members will receive a 10% discount off of any sales transaction fees incurred.
Choose “YNPN San Diego” as your “primary professional affiliation” in your individual profile to qualify for the above discounts. IdeaEncore will also donate a piece of its fees to YNPN San Diego – so you can support them without costing you anything.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to further the mission of your organization while enhancing your career. Please provide suggestions / feedback to Scott Bechtler-Levin, ScottB-L@IdeaEncore.com or 858-204-4672.

A Coincidence!

This week I began a web search for something to blog about by googling "nonprofit leadership". The second site to pop up was Nonprofit Leadership 601, authored by YNPN San Diego co-founder Heather Carpenter. Not knowing Heather's relation to YNPN, I spent a few days skimming over this blog, and I uncovered an exciting post that exhibited enthusiasm and support for leadership among nonprofit professionals. The post shared that the Nonprofit Times had listed the top most powerful and influential people in the nonprofit sector. Rather than renouncing a list that she felt needed some revision and expansion, Heather demonstrated a key leadership act by taking it upon herself to apply the philosophy of "if someone else doesn't do it, then I will." This blogger created her own list of young leaders who have been making waves in the nonprofit sector. I read over this list and found many names of people I am interested in looking up. I also found a name very familiar to me, and, of course, to all of you. Emily Davis, President of EDA Consulting was listed. If you haven't yet had a chance to read about what Emily has accomplished as a young professional, I bid you to read her biography, which you can easily access on YNPN San Diego's website because she is, after all, the founder and Chair. In addition to this wonderful coincidence, I did a little digging to find out more about Heather. It is absolutely no surprise that she was a key player in building the foundation of YNPN San Diego and then played a significant role on the Board during its key growing stages. I'd say that the blog Nonprofit Leadership 601 has been a great find and shows that YNPN SD has some great people who are not only "talking the talk," but also "walking the walk!"

Please share your comments about leaders in the nonprofit world whom you think deserve recognition and who could serve as role models for those of us who are working to develop such remarkable skills. You can add your input by clicking "comments" below this posting.

Nonprofit Leadership Blogs

It is my pleasure to announce that the YNPN San Diego Blog is adding another dimension to the kind of information it delivers. Individual perspectives about current happenings in the nonprofit sector, particularly those concerning leadership, professional development and networking will soon be rushing through the floodgates, or trickling, depending on the response we get from all of you! If you read an article or book, watch a movie or show, or have any ideas related to these nonprofit happenings, send Jessica Rodgers--that's me--an email with your response to it and a link if possible. I will then post it to the YNPN San Diego Blog for everyone in our network, and beyond, to read. Feel free to email me at rodgers.jessica@gmail.com if you have any questions. To kickoff this new addition to what gets written, I have something of my own to share in a forthcoming blog...stick around...
